Our History
Built on dedication and community
The Belleville Beast Swim Team has been a cornerstone of the Quinte region's sports community for over 40 years, originally establishing its deep roots under the name Belleville Youth Swim Team (BYST). Founded with a constitutional mission to develop competitive amateur swimming and promote healthy lifestyles, the club steadily grew from a grassroots community group into a provincial powerhouse. Over the decades, the team has consistently sent numerous standout athletes to provincial and national stages. This strong development pipeline has allowed multiple alumni to move on to compete for Canadian and US university varsity programs.
The club experienced a major surge in local popularity and membership following Canada's highly successful pool performances at the 2016 Summer Olympics. Capitalizing on this momentum, the program eventually rebranded to its current identity as the Belleville Beast Swim Team, operating its multi-tiered competitive tracks out of its modern training hub at the Quinte Sports and Wellness Centre. Today, the BEAST continues to foster elite local talent and break barriers, recently celebrating major milestones like OJIs and breaking provincial records.
